Five Things Friday

Hello friends, and happy Friday!

Summer is officially here for me! Yesterday morning, I took my last final. On my final report card, I have all A's and one B (Algebra...but a B is a freaking accomplishment in math for me). Yay!

I also worked for 4 hours yesterday and man, am I sore. Scooping ice cream and being a food/drink runner should count as an exercise! The last day of the school year is apparently the craziest for an ice cream place...shoulda guessed. And my job for today....spring cleaning!

Hope you all have a fantastic Friday!

Five things I ate:

Vegan Banana Oat Pancakes with peanut butter, blueberries, and coffee

Babysitting meal - brown rice, black beans, mixed chopped bell peppers, salsa, avocado, mango, and side of Zevia (which I have decided I do not like at all!)

Crumbled vegan banana muffin, banana slices, melty peanut butter, and cinnamon sprinkles

Ridiculously sweet and delicious cantaloupe

Aaannnddd unpictured samples of ice cream at my work. My favorite flavor right now is called Cinnamon Oatmeal Cookie! Da bomb.

Five things I read:

Right. If we're being totally honest, I've had all of these links bookmarked for like...weeks. So I'm finally putting them up, because why not?!

Ugh so in love. <3

Five things making me happy:

My new job! Check out my awesome uniform.

Summer!

Hangin' out with Reibs.

This goober (yes, he's sitting on a hat).

My new nailpolish.

Well, I'm off to start my spring cleaning (aka throwing away everything that has been in my closet for more than 3 years...there's a lot). Have a lovely, lovely Friday!!!

WIAW: So many food pics

Yola.

Thanks a bunch Jenn! You rock!

I am typing this on Tuesday because today (Wednesday if I post this on time), I start my first day at my job! With that and youth group, I won't have time to type it up.

I am nervous and excited at the same time - there is so much to learn and training barely scraped the surface. But I'm basically going to be making coffee drinks, bringing the food to customers, filling drinks, and scooping ice cream. Yeeaahh man. #summerjobstatus

Anyways, I am super super exhausted. In fact, yesterday I took two naps and I just woke up from a two hour nap (and the weirdest dream EVER). Still tired. UGH. Although I'm waayyy more energetic, I'm still struggling with occasional afternoon slumps/crashes. What the heck?!

I blame staying up too late watching Mad Men on Netflix (please tell me someone else watches this show - please!! PLEASE?!?), finals, my metabolism kicking up, and next week I have Driver's Ed (finally thank Jesus) plus work. Whew!

BUT never fear, I took lots of food pics this week. Like lots. I haven't been posting them on Instagram as much (I've been attempting to Insta-fast), but they're definitely still on my phone.

Okay, I'll stop my babbling and get to the food good stuff:

Breakfasts

I had an oats craving alllll week. Most weeks, I'll throw in a different breakfast or two, but this week was all about the oats.

Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal with peanut butter and coffee

Overnight oats in a Sunbutter container! Maybe 2-ish tbsps left at the bottom/on the sides.

Yum.

Crockpot oatmeal that I had frozen/microwaved - it worked beautifully! Stirred in cinnamon and chia seeds, and topped with a nectarine, blueberries, and peanut butter.

Lunches

Moe's with the sis! Underneath all that lettuce+guac is black beans, rice, and more veggies.

Brown rice, chicken sausage, broccoli, almonds (strange but good combo). Plus some kombucha.

Turkey+veggie wrap, carrots, almonds, and an apple+cinnamon sprinkles.

Dinners

Dinner is normally my least favorite meal, but I had some pretty awesome eats this week!!

Roasted zucchini, red bell pepper, onions, sweet potatoes, and a chicken sausage

Whole wheat pasta with marinara sauce+red peppers, topped with sauteed shrimp, and a side salad

1/2 of a margarita pizza from Whole Foods, plus a side salad, plus a Diet Pepsi.

Memorial Day dinner - grilled chicken sliders, baked beans, salad, plus corn on the cob and cataloupe

Snacks

Cantaloupe and a Chocolate Chip Brownie Larabar

Post 85 degree walk - PB&J smoothie (strawbs+almond milk+peanut butter) topped with granola crunchies

My new fave: banana slices, melty almond butter, and dark chocolate (the last of my stash!! Wah.)

Ugly pic, but delicious: a warm vegan banana muffin that I crumbled and topped with 1/2 a banana (sliced), and melty PB Co. White Chocolate Wonderful. So. Good.

There you have it! I've had a fantastic week of eats if I do say so myself. It's the oatmeal and nut butters.

Hope you all have a WONDERFUL Wednesday!!!!!

MIMM (lots of exclamation points and food and selfies edition)

Hello friends, and happy Memorial Day! (And thank you to all of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country! You all are truly amazing!)

Thanks Katie!

I am so. glad. that we have a day off - I totally need it. This past week was a whirlwind! I know, I know - summer is coming soon, but I am going to be super busy over the summer! In a good way. :)

Friends, so many positive things have been happening in my life over the past few weeks. I feel so incredibly blessed by the Lord - His amazing love, power, and blessings are truly showing their presence in my life at the moment. I am so, so grateful. Before I get all preachy, let me just say: put your total trust in HIM, and HIM alone, and amazing things will happen. Sometimes it's easier said than done, but just trust in The Lord. Just do it. His plan is so much more than you could ever imagine.

Okay I'm done being sappy.

Juuuuuust kidding cuz it's MIMM and I can be as sappy as I want so ha! You know you love it.

Marvelous is.....getting registered for my Chat Tech classes! I went to orientation on Friday, and it's all becoming so real! I'm actually going to be at college in the fall! Crazy.

Marvelous is.....my new job!!!!!!!! Yes, I got a job finally!!! I'm going to be working at an ice cream place/bistro that's only 5 minutes away from where I live. I start Wednesday - yikes! Wish me luck.

You bet I get to wear this awesome hat.

Marvelous is.....nature. Everything is in full bloom, and the humidity is kicking up. Every time I go outside, I see a woodland creature! I saw 3 snakes on my walk the other day (two that I almost stepped on!).

This dude was big!

Marvelous is....food. Just food. Any food. My appetite is CRAZY!!!!!!!!!!!!! #bottomlesspit

Marvelous is.....melon season. I'm currently enjoying a lusciously sweet cantaloupe, and can't wait to get into a watermelon that is twice the size of my head. And of course I took a selfie with it like duuuuh.

Marvelous is...my new nailpolish color. This is Essie "Watermelon" - I may or may not have gotten it just because of the name.

Marvelous is.....this family selfie. Tell me what's wrong with the picture (besides the fact that I look like a ghost)....

Marvelous is....this new coffee flavor! It doesn't taste super artificial like a lot of flavored coffees, and has a nice, sweet, vanilla-y undertone to it. Yumz.

Marvelous is.....Sherlock! So I finished up Season 2 last night. I cried for the last 20 minutes, no joke. And Netflix doesn't have Season 3!!! (Note: I've started Mad Men as a filler until I have the money to buy Season 3 on Amazon Instant Video, and I'm already getting drawn into that show too....oops)

Marvelous is....this combo. Banana, almond butter, and dark chocolate were created to be put together.

Marvelous is....Call the Midwife. I know I've mentioned this book a few times already, but it is so good. I flew through the first one and am now reading the sequel, Shadows of the Workhouse. They are a combination of real, first-hand events (they're memoirs), medicine (midwifery and nursing), and history and culture (Britain in the 1950s). Everything I love and I just can't get enough!

So I've had a pretty marvelous week, right?!?! I'm also excited for our Memorial Day plans (if the weather clears up). We'll see!

Have a maaaaarrrvveelloouuss Monday!

WIAW: Day in the Life

Hiiiiii!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Guess what, I'm typing this super duper fast cuz I forgot to write it up yesterday! Yay me.

Speaking of yesterday, I've been wanting to do a "Day in the Life" post for a while now. So yesterday, I decided that I was finally going to do it. Only, I forgot to put it up, so I just converged it with a WIAW.

Cuz let's be honest, I mainly took pics of my food. :)

Thanks to the fantabulous Jenn!!

6:10 - alarm number one goes off, and I hit snooze

6:15 - alarm number two, and I leap out of bed. I wash/blowdry/straighten my hair

6:30 - Head to the kitchen and whip up a green smoothie:

6:45 - sit down with breakfast part two - this morning was Ezekial Cinnamon Raisin toast, coconut peanut butter, a banana, chia seeds, a drizzle of honey, and a side of coffee.

7:05ish-7:20 - get dressed/do makeup/get school stuff together

Note: I do not like to rush in the morning, so I get up earlier than probably necessary so I can have my "me time." Totally worth waking up 30 minutes earlier.

7:30 - on the bus! And I took a nap, because we are the first picked up and my ride is at least 45 minutes long.

8:30 - first period, Spanish 4! We are in the midst of preparing for finals, so we were going over a review. Perfect tense, holla.

9:30 - second period, Healthcare Science 3 (Nursing Essentials). The first half of class, we took a SLO, which is basically a standardized test for each subject to record "progress made". As if we don't test enough already. At about 10, I ate a vegan banana chocolate chip muffin, and some almonds.

10:30 - third period, Honors American Lit. I think we just watched the Great Gatsby? But I read my book....*coughcough nerd*

11:30 - LUNCH! I was supah hungry for lunch today, and it hit the spot. Turkey, avocado, hummus, turkey, veggies on a whole wheat spelt wrap, apple slices, bell peppers, and trailmix.

12:30 - fifth period, Advanced Algebra. Ew. EWwwwww.

1:30 - Honors Human Anatomy and Physiology! Today, we were finishing up our dissection of a fetal pig - I will spare you squeamish ones of pictures. But I was the main person doing the cutting (holla), and I removed his heart and intestines, and observed his urinary system (yeah it was a male). So gross yet so fascinating.

2:30 - seventh period, AP US History. We are officially done learning, and watched The Aviator. I also ate some cantaloupe, partly because I was hungry, partly because I was feeling nauseous from the dissection (it smelled AWFUL).

3:30 - school's out! Ride le bus home.

4:30 - arrived home around 4, and now settling down for another snack - Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Larabar with some baby carrots.

Here's where the monotony begins. I had no homework, and I have no extracurricular activities at the moment. Had I had homework or something else to do, it would be a bit different.

4:30 - 5:30 - finish up the Once Upon a Time season finale. HOLY CRAP. I yelled the TV. I squealed like a little girl. I let my emotions take the wheel and cried like a little baby. Romance and heartbreak, I just can't handle it, people.

5:30-6 - chorez.

6 - I was getting antsy and went out for a walk. I was out in the sunshine for about an hour and covered maybe 3-ish miles? It was lovely.

7:00 - got home and hydrated with the rest of this kombucha while making dinner. It may be my new favorite flavor! I still have two more in the fridge to try, but it's gonna be hard to compete!

7:30 - dinner! It was sooo easy to make (only took about 20 minutes). Tomato sauce with spinach and Applegate Farms Italian Chicken Sausage (so good!), with salad+balsamic dressing. YUM!

8-8:30 - clean up dishes, and the cleaned my room. I had to get it from looking like this:

to this:

8:30 - looong shower. I still smelled like formaldehyde! Nasty.

9 - This is generally when I "unplug" for the day. I got my new issue of Cooking Light and a Time devoted to Beatlemania to read. **fun fact: I love the Beatles!

This month's Cooking Light is such a good issue! I dog-eared like half the magazine. And let me tell you, the Beatles magazine is no light reading:

9:30 - Get up, make lunch for the next day, do some laundry

10:00 - gettin' hungry. Night time snack:

Sit down and watch 15 minutes of the Big Bang Theory with Mom, and head to brush my teeth and get ready for bed.

10:30 - climb in bed and read my book for a good hour or more. If I like my book, I will read until my eyes are burning. I am currently reading Call the Midwife, and love it!! I've also got 12 books on my Amazon wish list.

11:30? - lights out!!

What an exciting life, I lead, eh? But I love it.

Have a wonderful evening, darlings!
