Feeling Better with Sunshine

Heya, friends. I can't believe that I let WIAW creep up on me again! Geez, I can't believe Spring Break is already halfway over!!! :(

Seriously, I take pictures of my food, like - all the time. For realz. It's so much easier to take 3 seconds to post it on Instagram than wait for it to load on my laptop to put in a post. We have a terrible wifi/service connection at my house, so yeah most days when I post, I've typed it up hours or even a day before all the pics load.

First world probs, ya know?

Anywho. Before we get to the fun stuff, we get to have a little talk (does anyone else freak out when their parents say something like this???!!). Yaaaaayyyy.

In pretty much all of my posts for, oh, a month or so now, maybe longer, at least somewhere I've mentioned that "I had so much fun, buuuttt, I'm stressed" or "I've been feeling down" or along those lines.

I don't really know where to start with this, but just know friends, that lately, I have not been happy. My my heart is full and I know I'm blessed, but part of me has been having a difficult time feeling that joy. I have a hard history with SAD (ha ha what an ironic acronym), and I think that it affected me more than usual this year, especially with the Snowpocalyspe. It also affected, maybe even hindered, my "recovery" efforts. I haven't gone "downhill" per say, I just haven't made much of an effort to work on my health (mentally and physically).

So just know this - I can't say I won't bring it up again, but I am definitely trying to gear myself towards a more positive mindset. I have also - well, I've reached out for help, temporarily. And I think that's totally fine and I have no problem with admitting that to ya'll, because I'm doing it for the good of me. And I'm excited because I know it's taking the next step for my well-being. Maybe I'll elaborate more later, but for now, that's all I feel like sharing. :)

Well, thanks for listening loves! Now on to the good shtuff. The SUN IS COMING OUT!

I feel like this happens every Spring Break. We're all tired of winter and it's cold and just bleh, and all of a sudden Spring Break hits - and it's warm! Love.

Yesterday I woke up to a freaking fantastic bowl of overnight oats! Instead of a separate bowl, I just stirred in my oats, banana slices (I've been mashing 1/2 of the banana to add more flavor/creaminess), cinnamon, salt, and vanilla into the rest of the yogurt container.

Then the rest of my day was filled with lots of fun and sun, my two favorite things. My friend picked me up around 2 to go on some hiking adventures!

It. Was. HOT. And I loved it! She took me to a new park, and it was more like a walk than a hike, but still fun.

The trees were so beautiful!

After about an hour of walking with no shade, we were tired, hot, and ready for coolldd. Enter: froyo.

Sara got some sort of watermelon/strawberry without toppings (the horror), but I stuck with a classic Jessica combo: vanilla, chocolate, strawberries, mini chocolate chips, and a little brownie bite! It totally hit the spot!!

We walked around Target a bit and then we drove through Chic-fil-a, and I got myself a wrap. Really delicious grapes on the side!

After dinner, Sara and I decided that we wanted to watch the sun set over the lake in the middle of the neighborhood (we were house sitting).

Ugh, I love evening walks. We walked on the trail around the lake, and it was perfection.

We were pooped by the time we got back to the house, and showered/crashed on the couch. We lounged for an episode of Sherlock (yes, I'm totally joining the fandom) and then we were out!

This morning called for laziness after all that walking, and I started my day with a bowl of warm banana oats. The lady we were house-sitting for told us we could help ourselves to what was in the fridge, and I found all-natural peanut butter, so - how could I resist?! ;) It was really good, I think it was Costco's brand? The ingredients were peanuts and salt, doesn't get any better than that.

And now here we are! I've got another hike planned with another sweet friend later this evening! Whoop whoop.

Have a wonderful Wednesday!!!

  1. I'm happy to hear that you're feeling better with this gorgeous weather and sunshine! I can imagine how difficult it must have been this winter with all the snow filling up every corner of our lives. But your eats look amaze balls, and your outdoor activities look so refreshing! My spring break is coming up in less than two weeks, so I'm pumped! I hope you enjoy the rest of yours, girl!
PS- your smile is so freakin' gorgeous!!!

  2. Aww, I had no idea you were going through this! Last year I struggled really, really bad with SAD. This winter was much better but I still had a few problems. GOOD FOR YOU for doing something about it and getting help! You're right - there's NOTHING wrong with that! Pleas let me know if you ever want to talk - I'd be more than willing to!

ANYWAY, all of your eats look SO yummy!!! So you're just chillin' at the lady's house? Haha! So cool that she had a good PB!

    1. Thank you so much girl, that encouragement means so much to me! And I am feeling much better, especially after reaching out. I will definitely keep you in mind if I feel like I need a talk (and I loovee talking - hehe).

Thank you, and yep we just slept over at the house while taking care of their pets and stuff. Don't worry, I know the family well, haha. And I was very grateful for the PB!!!
