Life Lately {According to iPhone Pics}

Whaaassssuuuuppp.

How was ya'lls weekend? Mine was pretty spectacular. Full of work, eating, sleeping, and walking - my favoritest things! (Not in that order.)

It came to my attention as I was browsing my pictures (late) last night that I have way too many that haven't made it up on the blog or Instagram. So today's post is dedicated to what's been up this summer so far! Get ready for an explosion of selfies that are not in chronological order AT ALL! :D

Life:

Let's reeewwiinnddd. Mom, Jonathan, and I went to see Maleficent a few days ago.

I have to admit that I wasn't terribly impressed with the movie. Sorry, Disney! I know it topped the box office, but I wasn't a fan of the plot. Ah well. But it was nice to get out with just my mom and brother for once!

The Amazing Spider-Man 2, however, is a different story. Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man....swoon.

I love myself a good superhero movie. I need to see the next X-Men movie while it's still in theaters!!

Also, I've been hanging out with a lot of my favorite kiddos lately. #babysitter4life

The girls were dying to finger paint.....I'm really proud that they didn't get paint on anything but the paper!!

A couple days later, I got to chill with these kiddos:

She has the sweetest giggle ever!!

I sure love 'em. I let them watch movies until 10 and eat goldfish and s'mores for dinner. Because it's SUMMER DUH.

My youth group had a "luau"......

I've decided that after I move to New York, I'm moving to Hawaii and wearing those skirts every single day. Or I'll just wear them every single day anyways. No biggie.

Now, the weather has been ah-mazing, so obviously, hiking has been on my to-do list. My friend and I went on some trails in her neighborhood that might be my new favorite spot! We walked for about an hour an a half, and all of the scenery looked like this:

Also, walking her (little!!) dog may have shifted my feelings about dogs a wee bit more positively. Just a bit. ;)

This morning, Reibs and I walked on the same trails!

Halfway in, I got us lost on a different trail that my friend and I had been on. We ended up on a legit hike up a really steep hill!

I <3 trees!

A little refuel:

We decided we were still pretty energetic, so we went on the trails behind my middle school that I used to run on for cross country!

Deer butt! Can you see it?! We were so close, the picture does not do the distance justice!

She (at least I think it was a she) looked right at us!

Oh yeah, and I have this job thing now too. ;)

On break! Don't say I didn't warn you about the plethora of selfies.

Food:

Cuz we know me like to eat.

Breakfasts:

Apple Cinnamon Oat Bake. I haven't had one of these in forever!!! Topped with chopped apples, peanut butter, cinnamon, and with a side of coffee.

Steel-cut oats with half a banana, cherries, chia seeds, and topped with coconut peanut butter. Coffee.

Oats with chia seeds stirred in, topped with half a banana, a nectarine, peanut butter, and a side of, you guessed, coffee.

The perfect breakfast combo: oats. fruit. nut butter. coffee.

Lunches:

Salad! Romaine lettuce, deli chicken, tomatoes/carrots, Blush Wine Vinaigrette, with watermelon and homemade bread {toasted).

Turkey/veggie/avocado wrap with veggies, salsa, and apple+cinnamon, and trailmix.

Same as the first salad, with a side of grapes and toast.

 Dinners:

At work: cantaloupe and peanut butter, banana, honey, and cinnamon on Ezekial Cinnamon Raisin bread.

Brown rice, sauteed zucchini and squash, and chicken.

Same as above, only with whole wheat pasta and parmesan cheese sprinkles.

Snacks:

Treats:

Guilty pleasure...

I FINALLY FOUND THIS FLAVOR! CRACK I TELL YOU.

So yeah, that pretty much rounds up everything going on at the moment. The only thing missing is the beach, amiright?!

See you later, my darlings! Have a wonderful Tuesday!!

  2. The best part of Maleficent was Angelina Jolie's cheekbones. Otherwise it was just an average movie. Spiderman on the other hand was on a whole other level. I would marry Andrew Garfield tonight if I didn't know Emma Stone was his girlfriend. Ugh. The struggles of loving a guy AND his girlfriend.

I babysit too! I babysit this 7 year old girl named 'Cayle' (Which is pronounced like 'Kale', so she basically wins at life and the name game) and her 3 year old brother who says the CUTEST things ever. He has little blonde curls and big blue eyes. He'll be a heart breaker in high school. Babysitting is so amazing because it's like getting paid to rewatch Disney movies and eat dinosaur shaped macaroni and cheese. Gosh I love it!

I love summertime hikes too! I've been travelling a lot lately, so the hikes I've gotten to take have been amazing. My mom and I took a really long hike last weekend and ended up getting lost. It was really scary and really fun at the same time (if that makes sense!) Now that summer sports have started, I doubt I'll be able to hike as much which is making me insanely jealous of you :)

And Jess, your food this week was off the charts. Those spoonfuls of nutbutter are potentially life changing. Seriously. Nut butter is like the nectar of the gods. And brown rice? It's my absolute favorite! I've never tried the minty M&M's, but my brother swears by them. He is addicted to them, so maybe I need to give them a try (or maybe I'm better off not getting addicted? :) )

Sorry for the long comment! I got a little carried away! Have a lovely Tuesday x

    1. OMG I could not stop staring at Angelina Jolie. So true about her cheekbones, and the makeup was gorgeously done. And I would totally marry Andrew Garfield!! And Spiderman. Gah it is a struggle.

All the kids I babysit have blessed genes - I'm not being biased at all. And watching Disney movies is definitely one of the best parts!!

Agh I want to travel SO BADLY! I haven't gone anywhere since NYC last summer. I know the feeling of getting lost - my only issue with that is if we come to a dead end or the trail isn't good. Otherwise, I know I'm not far from civilization even if I am in the woods. :)

Agreed - I take my nut butters very seriously. You MUST try the minty M&Ms!!!! They are life changing..maybe more so than nut butter? (Nah)

No prob, girl! I love long comments! Have a lovely day as well!

  3. You are too cute!! I love your selfies so keep 'em coming! (Wow, that sounded incredibly creepy.) I'm also craving a hike with my friends now.
Your food always looks SO GOOD! Your breakfasts especially— that peanut butter…
Mint + chocolate is the perfect combo. It's one of the only ways I like chocolate!
