Weekend Stuff!

Heeelllooooooooooooooo! I know, a weekend post on a Tuesday?! For shame. I actually sat down to write this yesterday but hey, got busy. Life.

I had a wonderful weekend - not many plans, but productive. I love days like that!

Saturday, I had kind of a late start, I slept in until past 9, which is about two hours later than I have been! I woke up to overnight oats and beautiful weather.

I lounged around, drank my coffee, and eventually decided that it was time for a WaLk!!

Yeah, I kind of went out in the heat of the day. Call me weird, but the heat doesn't bother me all that much (when I'm outside). I don't mind a little sweat, especially since I'm cold-natured through-and-through.

I met another furry friend!!

Meow!

When I got home, all I was craving was a smoooootthhhiieee. 1 cup almond milk, 1 cup pineapple, big handful of spinach, topped with granola.

Also, on a random note: I've been looking for some different glasses frames. I found BonLook through A Beautiful Mess and love the vintage frames! They have a virtual try-on that I was messing with to see if I could pull a vintage look off.

The verdict? I think my face is too narrow for chunky vintage frames, but not sure yet. I'm going to have to try them on in person to know for sure.

Then it was time for work! It was one of my longer days - I worked 3-9:30.

Sammich break!!!

After work, I crashed into bed and watched an episode of Mad Men, and ate my newest creation:

The usual yogurt+nut butter+banana combo, but topped with honey/cinnamon/dark chocolate. SO GOOD.

Sunday morning, I woke up around 7:30. For breakfast, what do you know....OATS! The same combo as the past 4 days in a row...peaches and blueberries. Yumz.

I took a walk around 9:30, and the weather was much more forgiving than 11. It was nice being in the cool shade!

Snack!

Then it was time for work. I only work one Sunday a month, and this day was a mad house! We were so packed and crazy!

Since I worked 11-3, I didn't sit down for lunch until 3:30 and was about to chew my arm off. My work offers this really good salad: it's spring mix with strawberries, mandarin oranges, candied pecans, bleu cheese, and grilled chicken. I want to make this at home!!

After lunch, Reibs (prounounced *Reebz*, by the way) and I decided we needed to go to the pool!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was so happy to finally get out and relax!

 Commence pool selfies!

I think we can agree that I have the prettiest sister ever?!?!

Quick and easy dinner: brown rice, stir-fried veggies, scrambled eggs, salsa, and greek yogurt.

Later, I climbed into bed and ate this beautiful creation:

1/3 cup oats, 1/2 a banana, 1/2 cup water microwaved and topped with peanut butter, cinnamon, honey, and some dark chocolate.

Eaten while watching the King's Speech! You guys, it is such a good movie!!! I highly, highly recommend it!!

K so I know this is a weekend recap, but I have to tell you about yesterday too cuuuuzzz....because.

Morning essentials.

On my morning walk, I found yet another friend. Told you I see forest creatures all the time!

And THEN I found a nest of baby birds inside of a mailbox!!!!!

The dark spot in the middle of the nest is the baby bird!! There were actually 3 or 4. I really hope that they stay safe, especially because mail goes in and out of there. I kind of want to leave a note for the mail man to be careful!!! They were so cute.

Okay, last thing...I found Call the Midwife season 1! Netflix does is again.

I hope you all have a wonderful Tuesday!!!!!!!

Summer 2014 Bucket List:

Go to the farmer's market (more than once!)

See at least 3 movies in the theater

Hike Kennesaw Mountain

Go kayaking

Make a fruit crumble

Go to Six Flags

Hike the Sope Trails

Go rock climbing (indoors)

Make s'mores

Go on a bike ride

Make some crafts/paint/draw

Go shopping for a new bathing suit!!!!!

Seems doable, right? And luckily, not a lot of them cost money or are too time consuming. I think these are very achievable! What are ya'll planning on doing this summer?

Thinking Out Loud

OMGeeeeeeeeeee I haven't put up a post in so long (read: a week) and so much has gone on and I have so many different posts planned and how am I going to get it all in because I have stuff to do the blogging struggle is real GAH!

Sorry, I had to get out a rant before I could put together a post. But for realz, I have so many post ideas running through my head, but every time I sit down to write (which is rare), I can't get everything out! Darn brain.

My tentative plan is to sit down and get them ALL written RIGHT THIS MOMENT. We'll see how that pans out. So just bare with me, mkay? Thanks babes!

1. I'm really hyper right now for some reason (can you tell?). Like, giddy. Maybe after a week of decaf, this coffee is overstimulating my brain???? Or am I just really happy I have the day off?!

2. *Closes eyes and inhales/exhales deeply* I will calm down. I will calm down.

3. I'm kind of having this sweets obsession at the moment. I blame working at an ice cream shop and smelling sweets all day. You would think that would make me tired of cookies/cupcakes/ice cream, but no.

4. Specifically the chocolate+mint combo.....

...it's a problem (not).

5. Sometimes I get home around 9, and it's still light out! I love it! Lately, evening walks have been my jam.

(I do always carry my phone/pepper spray with me).

6. Now that it's all warm humid, the fauna of my neighborhood have been making appearances. I have never seen these cats before the summer, and now I see them every time I walk the neighborhood! (Also, I feel like bats are gonna swoop down and attack my face in the evening - where the heck do they come from?!)

7. Speaking of fauna....bugs. Just bugs. Look at the size of this centipede (or millipede?!) Nastyyy.

8. I FINISHED SHERLOCK. I am still emotionally compromised and wondering what the heck I'm gonna do with my life at the moment. Maybe log off my Netflix account?! (Naaah.)

9. I am working on getting my driver's license...online. Plus, my permit expires in 2 days (I'm 17...), so I have to get that renewed to even get my license at all. Slacking at its finest.

10. Righty-ho, I know I sound like I lay around most of the day, which may be partly true. But in my defense, I do still go to work, and have been getting out and hiking! My love.

Aaannndd I have a summer bucket list post that I'm still working on that will keep me accountable. Woohoo! Hopefully that will be up by tomorrow!!

Love ya'll, and have an amazing day!!!

WIAW: Instagram isn't glamorous.

Mmmmmm. Hello there, gorgeous waffles.

Yup. Look at that peanut buttery goodness. They look beautiful, right?! And they were pretty dang delicious.

I posted the first picture on Instagram this morning, and it got me thinking about what Katherine posted on her blog yesterday. She talked about how what we see on Instagram, or even posted online is never ever the whole story.

Yes, I admit, these pictures are really pretty. I've improved on my photography skills (specifically iPhone), and also my editing skills. But let's be honest, editing really isn't rocket science.

So, I'm going to take you on a behind-the-scenes tour of what was going on behind my lovely Instagram picture.

Feast your eyes on this lovely doughy mess:

Yeah, the two (and a half) waffles that made it onto my plate were only out of four that made it out of the waffle iron in one piece. I made about 7 waffles.

The reason being, is this was my first time making these specific waffles - they were made from oats and a banana and vegan sooooo I kind of expected some sort of mess.

Moving on - this is where the actual photograph was taken.

Glamorous, right?

Also, here's the extra peanut butter that I left off for aesthetic purposes. I wanted you guys to be able to see the actual waffles.....

You betcha I dripped some on the table....

These are the actual finished product:

More peanut butter, cinnamon, and honey. Yeah, they still look pretty darn delicious, but tell me - can you really say these actually look like waffles? I mean they are drenched in peanut butter.

They've been microwaved like 5 times at this point because they sat while I cleaned up a bit, made my coffee, and took the pictures.

As if that's not enough deception (I'm sorry my loves!), I actually ate these in the living room. Sitting on the floor.

With a cat sitting next to me....

Aaanndd watching The Big Bang Theory.

So. You think Instagram pics are glamorous?

Think again...you aren't getting the whole story. Oh yeah, and all the while I looked like this:

This is probably the most real selfie of me ever. I literally rolled out of bed, and looked like this. I really don't care that you see my goofy face, bed head, lack of makeup, and pajama t-shirt. Because let's be honest, it's summer, and I look like this half the day holla.

Whenever you find yourself wishing your food could look like so-and-so's, or you could be as pretty as that girl, just stop! It's not the whole story.

(But the waffles really were delicious.)

Thanks for hosting, Jenn!
